Presentation by Marta Salvador at Villa Ocampo, Mar del Plata

By Marta Salvador

Allow me to welcome you, beloved living beings. I am Marta Salvador, a member of the Hispanic Literary and Cultural Institute located in California, U.S.A. The purpose of the Institute is spreading Hispanic literature and uniting the culture of the peoples. This Institute was founded 30 years ago by Dr. Juana de Arancibia, born in Jujuy province. She settled in the U.S.A. and became the ideologist of the Institute through her impulse, her actions, the symposia that were carried out. The event we will be participating in today was created during our meeting in Porto Alegre in August 2008,. We are now being called upon by art: plastic artist Marta Díez and acknowledged poet Rubén Vela. Dr. Alejandro Caride, a neurologist who conducts the area at the Buenos Aires German Hospital, has also joined us, as have two outstanding woman writers, Ester de Izaguirre and Bertha Bilbao. Thanks to the generosity of Juan Mastropascua, Head of Museums, this event is taking place at this location, where Victoria Ocampo spent so many occasions of rejoicing, interchange, literary meetings, and also love. This place was visited by Gabriela Mistral, Borges, his brother-in-law Bioy Casares – all of whom produced a place full of magic and mystery and art in which to acknowledge Marta Díez´s exotic mask-sculptures and the poems in the beautiful book being presented today: Masks-Sculptures and Poems, Marta Díez and Rubén Vela. This has been declared to hold touristic interest by the EMTUR.
