Ester de Izaguirre, Poems

By Ester de Izaguirre

Poem on the “She who is and is not” work piece Whose face is this that has gone away from the countenance? Who has lost the true language and has remained with its soul to the wind? Who is looking for her along the streets of a world in which nobody knows, in which nobody speaks, in which the names of things and men are not known?Poem on the “Rising Sun” work piece Now I can write down my thoughts and my face resembles peacefulness on a day when the sun has not yet risen. But thoughts are rays projected towards the skies looking for some message that may explain to me the secrets of life. Through my eyes the night that only I myself can live through while getting out of myself so as to say these words to you, a glance hiding in the shadows of all the secrets of life.Poem on the “Kayan” work piece I am king of a world in shadows. Only they are carrying out my orders, only they are going away towards the wholeness of a distant night. I am king, the reason for my pride and my haughtiness.Poem on the “Woman” work piece I cannot look at you while talking to you because at a glance you might see what I really am. I am alive even though my face may resemble my ancestor´s - the one who stopped the conqueror of lands and spirits. My eyelids conceal those tears shed by my race. But there is something that lives on uncovered - these words. They will certainly be able to triumph over spears and condemnation. Here they are, ready to take us close to the restfulness of meeting. Words, porcelain fountain of bliss and agony.
